Officer accused of alleged sexual assault of a former cadet was suspended in May

The institution's actions were adopted last May.

Santo Domingo.- Through a press release, the National Police reports that the agent accused of sexual assault on a former cadet of the institution was suspended from his duties immediately in May, in compliance with internal protocols and due process

The case involving a former cadet of the Escuela para Cadetes, Major General José Félix Rafael Hermida González, whose name is reserved, was referred to the Public Ministry, in the jurisdiction of San Cristóbal, for the corresponding investigations. Also, the institution reported that the suspension was carried out immediately upon learning of the complaint on May 27 through the Central Directorate of Internal Affairs, and that it awaits the final result of the Public Ministry.

In the same vein, the Minister of Interior and Police, Faride Raful, assured this Monday that no state institution "protects or will protect" those who commit acts of harassment, abuse, or violence against women, regardless of the aggressor's rank or position.

"The institution reaffirms its commitment to transparency and respect for due process, and makes it clear that it does not and will never protect acts of harassment, abuse or violence against women, under any circumstances and regardless of who commits them," the minister expressed through her account on the social network x.
