One dead and two injured after armed incident in Bejuco community, SFM

SAN FRANCISCO DE MACORÍS. – Violence shook the tranquility of the community of Bejuco during the last hours, leaving one person dead and two others injured in an event that the authorities still describe as a “confusing incident.” The preliminary report identifies the deceased as Edickson Balbi Padilla, 35 years old. His body was transferred to the morgue of the Dr. Ángel María Gatón Hospital, where the corresponding protocol of Forensic Medicine is expected.

In the same incident, José Martín Reyes Almanzar, approximately 22 years old, and another man identified only as Hansel were injured. Both are receiving medical attention at the aforementioned hospital. So far, the clinical diagnosis of the injured remains confidential. Unofficially, it was reported that the altercation involved an exchange of gunfire for reasons that have not yet been clarified by the security forces. Agents of the National Police appeared at the scene to collect evidence and initiate the corresponding investigations. An official report is expected from the Northeast Regional Command to shed light on the origin of the dispute and the possible culprits.
