The main objective of that meeting will be to review and approve the list of presidential candidates, in accordance with the protocol previously sanctioned by the Political Committee of the organization. The commission explained that it has held formal meetings with the leaders who had made their aspirations public before the formation of the organization. In some cases, such as that of two leaders who are not members of the Central Committee, the interviews were conducted by telephone. In addition, opinions were heard from other members of the party leadership to enrich the content of the protocol. In this initial stage, the mentioned aspirants are "Francisco Javier García, Francisco Domínguez Brito, Abel Martínez and Charlie Mariotti." Subsequently, the formal communication from the leader Ventura Camejo expressing his interest was also received. According to article 6 of the approved protocol, any party member wishing to be considered may submit their aspiration in writing or orally until the 22nd, before the meeting of the Central Committee. The commission highlighted that the process has developed in an environment of harmony, respect, and commitment to the party's institutionalism. Likewise, it noted that there is significant consensus within the PLD leadership to participate united in the process, preserving internal cohesion. However, they clarified that this consensus does not limit or affect the right of other leaders who decide to participate in later stages. The final results and the official list of candidates will be announced after the meeting of the Central Committee on the 22nd. Regarding the presidential candidate selection mechanism, it was indicated that it is scheduled for the last quarter of the year and could be carried out through an internal consultation method, although the issue is still under evaluation within the party's organizations.
