Santiago. – The National Police and the General Directorate of Traffic and Ground Transportation Safety (DIGESETT) are investigating the circumstances in which a patrol unit was involved in a traffic accident that left one person dead and another injured on Saturday night, in the municipal district of El Limón, Villa González municipality, in this province.
The fatality was identified as Ángel Miguel Santos Espinal, who was in the vicinity of the impact point. The injured person is Starling Adolfo Martínez Giraldo, who remains hospitalized receiving medical attention. The authorities expressed their condolences to the family of the deceased.

According to a preliminary report, the patrol collided with an SUV and a motorcycle that were parked at the scene while carrying out prevention work. Involved in the accident were a Mazda BT-50 pickup truck, assigned to the National Police and the Dominican Republic Army (ERD); a white Bestune T55 SUV, license plate G734622; and a black Tauro CG motorcycle, license plate K0093583. Both the driver of the SUV and the driver of the motorcycle were unharmed. Authorities reported that forensic investigations continue to determine the exact causes of the event and announced that, as the investigation progresses, they will offer new details to the public.Parallel investigation for vandalism
Following the accident, a group of people caused damage to the police unit and attempted to assault the acting officers, which prompted the immediate intervention of reinforcements in the area. The institution indicated that it is conducting an investigation to identify those responsible for the acts of vandalism and that, so far, 12 people have been arrested for investigation purposes.
