PN: Process against the accused of murdering a young person in Los Guandules will be in the hands of the Public Ministry

Santo Domingo.– The spokesman for the National Police, Colonel Diego Pesqueira, reported that the alleged perpetrator of the death of the young Perla Jokasta Santos Pacheco, 19 years old, was arrested, an event that occurred in the Los Guandules sector, in the National District.

Pesqueira explained that since yesterday the law enforcement institution announced the arrest of the major of the Dominican Republic Army, Diego Gerardo Mesa Arismendi, 48 years old, who is identified as the person who fired the shot that caused the death of the young woman.

"Regarding this regrettable event, we announced the arrest of Major Diego Gerardo Mesa Arismendi yesterday. From now on, what corresponds is his submission to justice, and all the informational and follow-up process is in charge of the Public Ministry," said the police spokesperson. According to versions offered by the victim's mother, the alleged aggressor lived a few houses away and, according to community members, observed the young woman with morbid glances. The mother also described him as an aggressive person and pointed out that he maintains a sentimental relationship with another woman. Perla Yokasta was defined by those close to her as a quiet, hardworking young woman who was very loved in the community. According to her mother, the young woman left her residence after being invited by friends to buy fuel, and upon returning she was shot in the head, which caused her death. The detainee remains in custody, while the Public Prosecutor's Office continues with the investigations and the corresponding judicial process.
