The National Police reported that the regional sub-director of Investigation (DICRIM) in Santiago, Colonel Gerson Acosta Polanco, appeared at the home of an elderly couple affected by an incident that occurred during a police operation in the community of Cabía, municipality of Imbert, province of Puerto Plata.
The complaint, which went viral on social media, indicated that agents of the DICRIM had mistakenly entered the home of the elderly couple while searching for a suspected criminal, causing damage to several doors of the residence.

During the meeting, the senior officer explained to the residents the situation that gave rise to the unfortunate event, offered apologies on behalf of the institution, and guaranteed that the "National Police" will assume responsibility for the damages caused to the home. In the framework of a community meeting held in the area, it was also established that unscrupulous people have been loitering in the sector, a situation that would have motivated police interventions in the area. Both those affected and the community members present thanked the senior officer for the visit and the commitment made by the institution regarding the incident. The National Police reiterated its commitment to strengthen engagement with the community and act responsibly in the face of any situation affecting citizens, while ensuring security in the communities.
