Santo Domingo.- The spokesperson for the National Police, Colonel Diego Pesqueira, revealed that it was Modesto Marmolejos del Rosario himself who left a letter to his partner, in which he asked her to buy a coffin with the money from a credit card that he himself had sent her. The letter was found along with other personal belongings of the deceased, which has generated great impact in the community of Valverde.
Marmolejos had been reported missing on October 4th. Two days later, his wife received a package containing his ID, a bank card, and a handwritten note that read: “If they fired Jazmín, we'll take care of getting Quico out. Look for him in the canal, buy him the box with this money”.

The lifeless body of the man was found on October 8 in the Los Altos de Jicomé canal, in Valverde province, tied at the feet, hands, and neck, and with multiple signs of violence. The macabre scene shocked the residents of the place, who still cannot assimilate the circumstances of the event.
During the investigations, Pesqueira explained that it was unequivocally determined that Marmolejos himself went to his home before disappearing, leaving a cell phone, an envelope with keys, and the credit card issued last September 30, without having been used.
The National Police, in coordination with the Public Ministry, continues to analyze security camera recordings and other elements collected at the scene, with the aim of clarifying the details of the case and determining if there was third-party involvement in the death of Modesto Marmolejos del Rosario.
