The National Police of the Dominican Republic, through its internal control bodies, reported the suspension and availability to the Public Ministry of several agents, including a colonel and a captain, following the opening of an investigation into the alleged theft of money during an investigative process in the province of San Cristóbal.
The institution explained that, in accordance with the recommendation of the Legal Affairs Department and in application of article 165 of Law No. 590-16, Organic of the National Police, it proceeded to suspend the agents indicated from their functions while the investigations progress.

He indicated that these precautionary measures are part of an internal process led by the Internal Affairs Directorate, with the purpose of ensuring a rigorous, transparent investigation that adheres to due process, respecting the legal guarantees of those involved. According to the statement, the officers were formally notified in accordance with regulatory procedures and subsequently placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry in the jurisdiction of San Cristóbal for the corresponding purposes. The names of the agents involved are kept confidential while the criminal investigation is ongoing. The National Police reiterated its commitment to compliance with the law, institutional discipline, and ethical standards, ensuring that any conduct contrary to the principles of legality and probity will be investigated and sanctioned in accordance with current regulations. Likewise, it informed that it will continue to offer details as the process progresses.
