Santo Domingo.– “Politics has to be purified in the country, and Ramón left a clear example of how power should be exercised”, expressed with a choked voice the revolutionary leader Rafael Francisco Taveras Rosario, known as “Fafa”, when referring to the legacy of the doctor and engineer Ramón Alburquerque.

Taveras offered his statements after going to the Memorial funeral home, located on 27 de Febrero Avenue where the remains of the outstanding political leader are being displayed, whom he defined as a brother with whom he worked closely for years, jointly promoting concrete actions in favor of the nation.

It is still affirmed that the erroneous idea that "the politician who does not take advantage of his position is an idiot" persists

The leader emphasized that Alburquerque had a special merit in Dominican public life, by remaining firm in ethics in a scenario where, according to him, the erroneous idea that "the politician who does not take advantage of his position is a fool" still persists.

“Ramón was an upright man. His main virtue was to practice politics with transparency,” he affirmed.

He maintained that the Dominican Republic lost a man of great intelligence, broad culture and high moral quality, also highlighting his performance as a senator of the Republic for several periods, a function he performed with responsibility and adherence to principles. Finally, he called for Ramón Alburquerque's conduct to be taken as an ethical reference to evaluate those who continue in public life today, insisting on the need for a moral cleansing of national politics.
