Leah Francis Campos was sworn in as the ambassador to the United States in the Dominican Republic, officially assuming the position.
The swearing in was communicated by the diplomat, who published the act on her Instagram account.
Of Hispanic origin and with extensive experience in foreign policy and national security, including her years as a CIA agent and legislative advisor, Campos thus becomes the third woman to officially represent the U.S. on the island.
His appointment ends a diplomatic vacancy that lasted for almost four years, since the end of the term of former ambassador Robin Bernstein in 2021.
