Santo Domingo.– The priest Alejandro Anselmo Peña Sánchez, from the Diocese of Mao-Montecristi, was suspended from his duties “for investigation purposes”, after two women, sisters and now adults, reported that they were abused by the religious when they were minors. A statement from the Dominican Episcopal Conference (CED) indicated that while investigations are carried out, “we commit to providing spiritual and psychological assistance to the alleged victims, as well as to indicate the procedures to be followed in a situation like this.” The CED assured it was “in a spirit of total and open collaboration with the authorities”. The case of women was addressed this Monday on the investigative program ‘El Informe con Alicia Ortega’.
