Santiago, R.D. — The Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, urged Dominican youth this Monday to be innovative and protagonists of national development, during the inauguration of the PUCMM Business Week 2025: “Leading the Future”, held on the Santiago campus of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM).
In his keynote address titled “Government and Companies: Allies of Innovation in Competitive Markets”, Peña highlighted that more than 60% of the country's companies are led by young people, which reflects, according to him, the leadership, creativity and commitment of this generation to the economic and social growth of the nation.

"Innovation and entrepreneurship are the tools that young people must embrace to continue transforming the Dominican Republic. You are the engine of change and the basis of the country's economic future," said the vice president.
Peña also highlighted that the Government is working to maintain economic stability, strengthen education, and create more opportunities for youth. He recalled that the Dominican economy closed 2024 with a 5% GDP growth and an inflation of 3.35%, the lowest in six years, in addition to registering a foreign direct investment of 4,523 million dollars, a sign of investors' confidence in the country's stability.
During the event, the dean of the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences, Julissa Pichardo, announced the opening of the Bloomberg Laboratory, making PUCMM the only university in the country with this international-level academic tool, which will allow students to access financial data and real-time analysis.
Also, the director of the Business School, Diana Frías, explained that the event —which will take place from October 13 to 17— will include workshops, conferences and panels on innovation, financial management, marketing and business management, with national and international experts.
The inaugural act was attended by the Reverend Father Doctor Secilio Espinal, rector of PUCMM; the governor Rosa Santos; the mayor Ulises Rodríguez; the senator Daniel Rivera and representatives of the business and academic sector.
With this new edition, the PUCMM Business Week reaffirms its role as a meeting space between the government, academia, and the private sector, focused on promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and the training of the country's future business leaders.
