Santiago.– A man identified as Marino Pérez, a sales representative for the company Castalosa, died this Friday at noon in a traffic accident that occurred on the Joaquín Balaguer highway, in the direction of Santiago–Navarrete.
According to preliminary information, Pérez was traveling in his vehicle when he was hit by a truck upon reaching the area where the speed bumps are located. After the impact, Pérez was trapped inside the car, which was completely destroyed. The intervention of units from the 9-1-1 Emergency System, agents from the Digesett, and members of the Fire Department was necessary to recover the body. The accident caused great commotion at the scene, where dozens of people gathered and expressed their concern about the danger of the speed bumps installed in that section, pointing out that they have been the cause of several accidents in recent months. The death of Marino Pérez has caused deep consternation among his family, colleagues, and friends, who describe him as a hardworking man and highly appreciated in his work environment. Traffic authorities have initiated an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the event and establish responsibilities, with the aim of preventing similar situations on this busy road.
