San Francisco de Macorís, R.D. – A large military contingent was deployed this Sunday in this city, with the aim of reinforcing patrol and prevention efforts, in the face of the 24-hour strike called by the collective of popular organizations. Hundreds of vehicles and agents arrived at the Duarte fortress of the 7th Infantry Brigade in San Francisco de Macorís as part of the security operation, which seeks to guarantee public order and the protection of citizens during the day of protest. The deployment includes the presence of special operations agents, intelligence units, ambulances, military trucks, as well as members of the Dominican Republic Army and members of the General Directorate of Transit and Land Transportation Security (CIUTRAN), among other state security agencies.

Authorities reported that these actions are part of a preventive plan to avoid incidents and preserve tranquility in Duarte province, amid the expectations generated by the call for a strike. The strike call by popular organizations has generated a broad movement of security forces, who remain on constant watch at various strategic points in the city.
