Senator Héctor Acosta calls for a silent march against prolonged blackouts in Monseñor Nouel

Santo Domingo.- The senator for Monseñor Nouel, Héctor Acosta, announced the call for a peaceful and silent march to protest against the prolonged blackouts affecting the population of the province. The mobilization is scheduled for Tuesday, August 13th at 5:00 p.m., starting at Duarte Park and ending at the offices of Edenorte. Acosta denounced that the power outages in the area last between four and six hours, and are carried out without prior notice, affecting the daily life, safety, and economy of the residents.

The legislator lamented that this problem, which in previous governments was considered overcome, has reappeared strongly, generating discomfort even within the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM). According to what he expressed, some members of the ruling party feel “shame” for the current situation. Also known as El Torito, Acosta asked citizens to participate in the march without music, banners or loudspeakers, respecting silence as a form of symbolic protest. “There is nothing more effective than a people demanding their rights under the shadow of silence,” he said. Finally, he reiterated his commitment to continue defending the interests of the province and invited all sectors to join in demanding a stable and quality electricity service.
