Stolen electrical cables recovered from Santo Domingo Metro; they were about to be sent to China

Santo Domingo. – Authorities recovered electrical materials valued at more than 300,000 euros that had been stolen from the construction of the extension of Line 2 of the Santo Domingo Metro and that were about to be illegally sent to China. According to investigations, on June 8th, a security employee of the warehouse, in complicity with Enercido Viola Familia (former employee of the security area) and Jonathan Enmanuel Vásquez Núñez, sabotaged the electrical system of the premises to disable the surveillance cameras. This allowed the entry of a truck with which they stole two rolls of 120 mm² supporting cables and a contact wire of the same gauge.

The criminal operation was dismantled on June 13, when police officers and members of the Public Ministry located the material at the “Reciclaje M&M” premises, located on La Española street, near República de Colombia avenue. The wiring was already packed to be exported on a ship bound for China. So far, six people have been arrested and brought before the justice system. They are Dieussibon Pierre Louis, Osvaldo Reyes Bautista, Luegi Rafael Martínez Victoria, Jonathan Enmanuel Vásquez Núñez, Alfonso David Montoya Dávila and Alejandro Rondón Acosta, alias “Jando”. Two individuals involved remain fugitives: Feliciano Viola Familia and Ronny Daniel Jiménez Gómez. Authorities urge them to surrender through the means they deem appropriate. The investigation continues to determine if there are more involved in this attempt at international trafficking of public goods.
