Santiago. – The National Police identified the five men who died during an alleged exchange of gunfire with police officers in the La Barranquita sector.
The deceased were identified as Elvis Antonio Jiménez Rodríguez (26 years old), Julio Alberto Gómez (28), José Vladimir Valerio Estévez (25), Edward Bernardo Peña Rodríguez (35) and Carlos Enrique Guzmán Navarro (40).
According to the preliminary report, the incident occurred after a chase in which the alleged criminals were traveling in a white Kia vehicle. Upon arriving in front of an apartment building with commercial premises, the occupants allegedly fired at the agents, originating the shootout in which they were killed.

In the scene, several firearms were seized, including a rifle, which according to the law enforcement institution were used by the deceased to commit criminal acts.
