Tomás Hernández Alberto valued the 5 years of achievements and change of the Abinader government

Santo Domingo.– During a prominent appearance on the program Aeromundo, hosted by journalist Guillermo Gómez, political leader and analyst Tomás Hernández Alberto offered extensive recognition to the management of President Luis Abinader, by describing his first five years in government as “one of the most transformative and transcendental periods in Dominican democratic history”. Hernández Alberto said that, since his arrival to power in 2020, President Abinader has led with vision, courage, and commitment, facing great challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, without losing the course of national development. “Luis Abinader arrived with a clear thought and a defined strategic plan. In record time he managed to open the economy, restore confidence and consolidate a sustainable growth model,” he affirmed. One of the great achievements was the recovery and expansion of tourism. “This country dreamed of reaching 10 million tourists, and today, thanks to Luis’s leadership, we are on our way to breaking the barrier of 12 million visitors in 2025. That is a feat that speaks of planning, management, and results,” he expressed.

In his speech, he also highlighted the ethical pillars of the current government. “From day one, President Abinader distanced himself from the past, promoting a truly independent justice system and empowering magistrate Miriam Germán and prosecutor Yenny Berenice to lead a frontal fight against corruption, without interference from the Executive Branch.”

Hernández Alberto also recognized the president’s economic management as exemplary. “Luis Abinader made brave decisions, such as the zero rate for essential products, which helped mitigate the impact of the international crisis and ensure the well-being of the population, despite an opposition that seemed more interested in the government’s failure than in the country’s well-being.”

Furthermore, he valued that the people have known how to recognize the greatness of that management: “What we have experienced in these five years is a profound, real, human, and modern change. Therefore, the country has once again placed its trust in Luis Abinader. Because he has shown that he knows how to govern in good times, and above all, in difficult times.” When referring to the country’s political future, he maintained that the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) has known how to inherit the best of the PRD and consolidate itself as a modern and democratic force.

Thank God not everything was lost. With Luis Abinader in power until 2028, and leading the party as circumstances allow, our democracy is guaranteed,” he concluded.
