Santo Domingo.- Two earthquakes of magnitudes 4.2 and 4.0 were recorded on the afternoon of this Sunday in the province of Puerto Plata, with only ten minutes of difference, according to preliminary reports from seismic monitoring systems.
The first event occurred at 3:49:41 in the afternoon, with its epicenter 3.6 kilometers west of Luperón, on the north coast of the country, with a magnitude of 4.2 and a depth of 22.8 kilometers, being the strongest of the two.

At 3:59:38 in the afternoon, a second tremor was recorded, this time with a magnitude of 4.0, located 6.2 kilometers east of Villa Isabela, also in Puerto Plata, with a depth of 13.1 kilometers. For the time being, the authorities are monitoring seismic activity in the area.
