Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader denied this Monday that his administration plans to submit a tax reform at the beginning of 2026, clarifying that the rumors that have arisen in recent days do not correspond to any official decision.
During his weekly meeting with the press, the president explained that the issue originated from a proposal presented by the Association of Merchants and Industrialists of Santiago and the North Zone (ACIS), a business entity that recommended the country move towards a tax restructuring. Abinader emphasized that this suggestion came from the private sector and not the Government. You may be interested in: http://Abinader presents National Disability Plan 2025-2035 to guarantee equal conditions and opportunities
The Head of State also recalled that the Minister of Finance has addressed this discussion in different scenarios, always within the framework of technical analyses on fiscal sustainability, but reiterated that there is no schedule, nor a project in development to be presented in the first months of next year. Abinader insisted that, although the debate on possible reforms has been present in economic circles, his government has not made any decision in this regard. "There is no date or proposal ready for January," he stressed.
