Dominican workers earning minimum wages rank ninth among 19 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, according to a regional ranking that compares monthly minimum incomes. At the beginning of this year, the minimum wage in the Dominican Republic ranges between 269 and 475 dollars, depending on the size of the company and the sector, surpassing economies such as Colombia, Argentina, and Brazil.
According to data released by Bloomberg Línea, these amounts are equivalent in local currency to incomes ranging from 16,993 to 29,988 pesos monthly. The Ministry of Labor recently reminded that, as of February 1, the remaining 8% increase in the minimum wage for the non-sectorized private sector will come into effect, thus completing the total increase of 20% approved last year by the National Wage Committee.

In the regional context, Costa Rica, Uruguay, and Panama lead the list of countries with the best minimum wages, with salaries exceeding 600 dollars monthly.
