The measure, which comes into effect on Monday, April 7, 2025, was announced by the General Directorate of the General Customs Administration (AGD) of Haiti, in compliance with instructions issued by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and based on the country's Customs Code.
According to the new regulations, the entry by land of products arriving from Dominican territory is prohibited, regardless of their country of origin. All merchandise must be channeled through authorized maritime routes, where the corresponding customs control process will be carried out.
Haitian authorities warned that any cargo attempting to cross the land border in violation of this provision will be seized. In addition, a reinforcement of border controls was announced with the support of the Haitian National Police and the Armed Forces, with the aim of ensuring the strict application of the measure.
The official statement also establishes that customs officials who do not comply with the provision may face administrative and criminal sanctions in accordance with the laws in force in the country.
The AGD urged all its personnel at border points to strictly comply with this resolution, noting that it seeks to maintain order, security, and the integrity of the national customs system.
