The Caribbean nation excels in economic growth and poverty reduction

Santo Domingo.– Dominican Republic is consolidating as one of the most prosperous countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, reaching fifth place in the new “Prosperity Index”, which evaluates both economic growth and quality of life and social well-being.

In the most recent Prosperity Index, which analyzes the integral development of 186 countries based on economic and social factors, the Dominican Republic has achieved a prominent place in the region: the number 5 position among 23 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a score of 37.4 out of 100.

This “Prosperity Index” is based on data from the World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). With this result, the country is only behind Chile, Uruguay, Panama and Argentina, surpassing relevant economies in the region such as Brazil, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Colombia.

This rise demonstrates notable progress in key variables such as the increase in per capita GDP and the sustained reduction of monetary poverty. These results also reflect significant advances in the country in variables such as per capita GDP growth and the gradual decrease in the monetary poverty rate.

With this new classification, the Dominican Republic consolidates its position as one of the most dynamic emerging economies in the region that seeks every day to transform economic progress into tangible well-being for all Dominican citizens.
