San Salvador.- The Government of El Salvador anticipates approximately $55 million in tourism revenue from the Central American residency of Colombian singer Shakira, which consists of five concerts in San Salvador, two of which took place this past weekend, according to official projections shared this Monday. The head of the Ministry of Tourism, Morena Valdez, informed during a press conference with international media that in total, for the five shows of the Colombian singer, 135,000 attendees are registered, of which 51% (68,000) are Salvadorans. The rest, 49% indicated the minister, are foreigners who have come from the rest of the countries in Central America, the United States, Canada, Colombia, and Mexico. In addition, according to data shared by the residence's producer to the ministry, the Shakira event has generated 11,000 jobs, of which 4,000 are direct and 7,000 indirect, Valdez pointed out. The Colombian Shakira reunited on Saturday night in El Salvador with her Central American pack, after two decades since she last set foot on a stage in this country, in the first of five concerts she will give in San Salvador.

El Salvador thus becomes the only Central American country that will see the pop star perform on this 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour', with which Shakira broke the Guinness World Record at the end of January for the most successful Latin music tour by raising 421.6 million dollars. Recognized by Billboard as the best Latin pop artist of all time, Shakira has undertaken a tour that includes almost a hundred concerts and will conclude on April 4 with a show in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates, after a final show in Latin America that will be in Mexico City on February 27. The concert series takes place amidst the enthusiasm of its fans and divided reactions due to the alleged government support, led by the Salvadoran president, Nayib Bukele, to make the events possible.
