Santo Domingo. – The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes, Víctor “Ito” Bisonó, highlighted this Wednesday the importance of the arrival of the first Amazon Air cargo flight to the Dominican Republic, emphasizing that the operation will not only impact connectivity and commercial flow, but also opens doors to new investments and the strengthening of small and medium-sized enterprises.

“For us, it’s great news that this plane is coming and bringing cargo. Alfonso Alemán, who has contracted the plane, has explained to us that it will serve anyone who requests to bring cargo to the Dominican Republic,” said Bisonó while participating in the event held at Las Américas International Airport.

The official explained that in times of high demand, such as December, cargo transport tends to become saturated worldwide, so having Amazon Air will allow for more agile and beneficial alternatives for users. In addition, he announced that the contact with the company is not limited to logistics, but also includes interest in supporting SMEs with technology and communications, as part of an investment scheme that responds to the economic, social and political stability of the country. “When in a globalized world there is more movement, more connectivity and more alternatives, that is healthy for the economy,” he concluded.
