New York.- The West Texas Intermediate (WTI) began this Tuesday with a rise of 3.62%, to $99.86 a barrel, after reports that the President of the United States, Donald Trump, is dissatisfied with Iran’s proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

At 09:00 local time (13:00 GMT), WTI futures contracts, the crude oil used as a reference in the U.S., added $3.49 compared to the previous day’s close.

Trump told his advisors that he is not satisfied with Iran’s proposal to open the strait and end the war, according to The New York Times.

However, according to the newspaper, it was not clear why the president does not like the Iranian offer. The fact that the Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz was received with skepticism by the US president has translated into “a blow to investors’ hopes for a rapid reopening of the waterway,” added The Wall Street Journal this Tuesday.
