In that same order, the designer of the Pava added: “They already had a version of the Pava design in mind. They wanted something that would give it that Puerto Rican touch. We talked a lot about the theme of the Met Gala and how to incorporate dandyism into our jibarito. So the focus was to create something that wasn't a costume. We wanted something that maintained that elegance. It was about creating a Pava, but with a shorter style, nothing too dramatic,” the designer shared with People en Español magazine, about the piece that took two and a half weeks to make.
