Carlos Sánchez explodes against the recent corruption cases in the country

Santo Domingo, RD.- The humorist Carlos Sánchez reacted publicly after the new details of the alleged corruption network in SeNaSa were made public, revealed by Operation Cobra. Distressed by the accusations involving the diversion of more than one billion pesos destined for social programs, Sánchez shared an extensive outpouring on his social media. "We are a corrupt culture... the goal is to get rich quick no matter how," he wrote, blaming not only officials, but a culture that, according to him, normalizes these practices.

The comedian highlighted his outrage upon learning that the alleged scheme directly affected the "Senior Citizen" program, aimed at one of the country's most vulnerable populations. His reaction was especially harsh considering that funds that should have guaranteed basic services had ended up in private pockets. "How disgusting corruption is. How disgusting they see the government as a piñata... both politicians and businessmen," he expressed while expressing his rejection. Sánchez lamented that people who enjoy social recognition are linked to acts that, according to investigations, harm those who depend on the public health system. "So many people with whom we share... some you have to say to them 'how are you doing, Mr. So-and-so?', and Mr. So-and-so is nothing more than a hungry thief," he stated, referring to figures who maintain appearances while participating in illicit practices.

In another of his messages, he reiterated the hypocrisy of individuals who condemn corruption in public, but in private are part of it. "I have spoken with someone indignant... and then life surprises me because he is another thief," he said, frustrated by what he considers a double standard rooted in various sectors. The humorist insisted that the SeNaSa case is just a symptom of a larger problem: a permissive culture towards corruption. "Corruption is everywhere, we breathe it, we justify it and sometimes we applaud it... it's cultural, and a culture is not eradicated with a few prisoners," he warned, assuring that it is not just about punishment, but about a profound transformation. In his statements, he also criticized the lack of decisive decisions to prevent scandals like the one at SeNaSa from happening again. "A culture is eradicated with a firm hand, with radical decisions... the kind that our governments don't want to make," he expressed, while also calling on the population to take on part of the work: "A culture is eradicated by each of us being the change we want to see." Finally, his message reached its most forceful tone when referring specifically to the embezzlement in the health sector. "Personally, corruption disgusts me... but if it's with the people's health system, those thieves must disappear from the planet," he denounced, followed by urging parents to raise children who are not dazzled by the wealth of others.

"Let's teach our children to live on what one earns. If you want to live better, let's teach them to earn more.
But never, under any circumstances, let's justify that anything that belongs to another can or should be mine.
", signing the outburst as "a disgusted citizen".
