Costumes inspired by Santiago Matías and La Fruta stand out in the National Carnival Parade

On the afternoon of this Sunday, the city of Santo Domingo vibrated to the rhythm of color and the joy of the National Carnival Parade. The event brought together more than 150 comparsas from all over the country, as well as invited international delegations, showcasing the cultural and folkloric richness of the Dominican Republic. Among the costumes that caught the public's attention, those inspired by well-known figures from Dominican politics and the entertainment industry stood out. One of them paid tribute to the businessman Santiago Matías, CEO of Alofoke Media Group, demonstrating how popular culture is also part of festivities like this one.

A young man from Santiago de los Caballeros, who in the recent edition of the Santiago Carnival has disguised himself on several occasions as Santiago Matías, arrived at the National Parade personifying the businessman. He was accompanied by another young man who also disguised himself as La Fruta, a content creator based in the United States and winner of the second season of the reality show La Casa de lo Alofoke. But these didn't arrive alone. They staged a real moment in the life of the businessman alongside the outstanding producer of Alofoke Media Group, Yubelina Familia, and even with his security, "Papolo". The staging allowed the viewers to easily recognize the characters and enjoy the tribute with a touch of humor. The presence of these costumes reflects the impact that Santiago Matías has on national public life, to the point of being considered an inspiration for characterization in an important folkloric and carnival parade. His figure becomes a cultural reference for youth and carnival fanatics. The parade demonstrated, once again, that Dominican Carnival not only celebrates traditions, but also adapts to popular culture.
