Santo Domingo. – The Minister of Culture, Roberto Ángel Salcedo, clarified that the institution does not have a legal framework that allows it to intervene in the reality show “La Casa de Alofoke 2”, after the collective Movimiento Matrimonio Feliz requested its intervention alleging that the program promotes content contrary to moral values.
Salcedo explained that current laws do not contemplate regulations for content disseminated through digital platforms, therefore, from a legal point of view, the Ministry does not have the power to act.

“We have very outdated laws that do not consider what happens on digital platforms, so from a legal point of view, the issue is unresolved”, the minister affirmed, making it clear that, for the moment, there is no institutional path to respond to the complaint filed.
The official pointed out that the conversation about the regulation of digital content is still pending in the country and that it is a debate that must be addressed with regulatory updates and multi-sectoral participation.
