George Clooney, his wife and their two children obtain French nationality
Paris.- The American actor George Clooney, one of the most famous on the planet; his wife Amal Alamuddin (born in Lebanon) and their two children, Ella and Alexander (both born in the United Kingdom) have obtained French nationality by decree, as stated in the Official Journal of the French Republic in a decree approved on December 26th.
In the document, among a long list of naturalizations, are Clooney, born on May 6, 1961 in Lexington, in the State of Kentucky; Amal, on February 3, 1978 in Beirut; and their twin children, both born on June 6, 2017 in Westminster (London).
The Clooney-Amal family acquired a property and a vineyard area in Brignoles, in the Var department (southeastern France) in 2021.
In France, he was decorated as an Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2016.
Another well-known figure in cinema, American director Jim Jarmusch revealed a few days ago that he is in the process of obtaining French citizenship.
“I would like to have another place where I can escape from the United States… And also France, Paris and French culture are anchored in me,” Jarmusch, director of ‘Strangers in Paradise’ (1984) and ‘Coffee and Cigarettes’ (2003), recently told the public radio ‘France Inter’.
