Julio Iglesias has hired the lawyer José Antonio Choclán to face the complaint of sexual abuse filed by two former employees of his houses in the Caribbean, as confirmed this Thursday by legal sources.
The Spanish National Court Prosecutor's Office will take statements as protected witnesses from the two women who, on January 5, reported, represented by the Women's Link organization, cases of sexual harassment and assault in 2021 by the singer.

The events would have occurred in the houses of Julio Iglesias in the Dominican Republic, Bahamas and Spain. One of the women was a housekeeper and the other a physiotherapist, according to an investigation by the Spanish digital media elDiario.es and the American channel Univision.
As it is an investigation by the Prosecutor's Office, which has not yet been brought to court and remains secret, the lawyer cannot at the moment appear in the proceedings. The Prosecutor's Office has six months to decide whether to shelve the case or file a complaint with the National Court.
The Choclán law firm, headquartered in Madrid, has intervened in several cases of great public notoriety, including the one against Carlos Iglesias, the singer's brother, for tax fraud.
Choclán also defended Cristiano Ronaldo in the tax fraud case and also footballers Gabi Fernández and Ángel Lafita in the trial for the alleged fixing of the Levante-Zaragoza match in 2011. Also defends or has defended several Spanish politicians in corruption cases such as the former mayor of Valencia Rita Barberá or currently one of the accused in the so-called 'Koldo case', which affects people who were close to the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez. Since the revelation of the accusations following the investigation by eldiario.es and Univision Noticias last Tuesday, the singer has not wanted to make statements to the media and has limited himself to pointing out to 'Hola' magazine that everything will be clarified.
