Santo Domingo.- The mansion that the Spanish singer Julio Iglesias owns in the paradisiacal town of Punta Cana, east of the Dominican Republic, and where he allegedly harassed and sexually assaulted former employees, is a refuge of luxury and privacy that the artist turned into his home several decades ago.
The house, divided into several bungalows, is surrounded by trees, with an impressive entrance and swimming pool, and is difficult to access, so entry to the area is only possible with authorization, as witnessed on a visit to the property in the past.

Equally majestic are its bathrooms and main hall, or the recording studio, where the artist has gathered family and friends, but also journalists, whether on the occasion of the presentation of an album or to announce a concert. And the interpreter, with more than 300 million records sold worldwide from his hundred albums recorded, has never hidden his love for the Dominican Republic, especially for Punta Cana, a town he met through a friend, the late Dominican designer Óscar de la Renta. Punta Cana, in fact, owes part of its tourism development to the interpreter of world hits like 'Quijote' and 'I forgot to live'. "I could have lived in any country in the world, but I chose this one for all the love they have always given me," he said on one occasion about the Dominican Republic, whose nationality was granted to him years ago. However, his presence in the Dominican Republic has decreased significantly after the pandemic, and since then, only a few visits to the country have been known, one of them in January 2024, when the authorities confiscated a shipment of fruits and vegetables that he tried to introduce to Punta Cana on a flight from the Bahamas, just when the country had detected the presence of the Mediterranean fruit fly in the area.
In the house in Punta Cana, as well as in other of his properties in Spain and the Bahamas, Julio Iglesias would have harassed and sexually abused two employees, according to a journalistic investigation by eldiario.es and Univision News in the United States and revealed this Tuesday. That house "has to be called the little house of terror because it's a drama, a horrible thing", recounted one of the former workers. One of the women was a housekeeper and the other a physiotherapist, according to the information, which contrasted the testimonies of both with interviews with professionals who treated them for their after-effects and who claim to have documents that support their employment relationship with the composer. The account of both describes sexual assaults such as non-consensual penetrations, slaps, humiliations, and systematic workplace harassment of them and other female employees. This Tuesday, it was also reported that the Prosecutor's Office of the Spanish National Court has opened proceedings to analyze a complaint filed on January 5 against the singer for the events covered by the aforementioned journalistic investigation. A source from the Attorney General's Office of the Dominican Republic told EFE that for the moment there are no reports of the events in the country.
