Lawyers Anabelle Torres Colberg and Heileene Colberg Birriel resigned from the defense team of Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, artistically known as Daddy Yankee, in the corporate dispute he maintains against his ex-wife Mireddys González Castellanos and his ex-sister-in-law Ayeicha González.
The lawyers’ departure, who are mother and daughter, is reported in a motion to the court. No details were offered on the reasons for the determination, although a 30-day period was requested to allow for the corresponding adjustments in the artist’s legal representation.
Daddy Yankee, however, continues to be represented in the case by the lawyer Carlos Díaz Olivo, who has been one of his legal spokespersons since the beginning of the controversy.
Case Context
The dispute between Ayala Rodríguez and the González sisters began in December 2024, following the announcement of their divorce after almost three decades of marriage. Since then, lawsuits have been filed in various courts, including those of San Juan, Carolina, and the federal forum, regarding the dissolution of the marriage and the control of the corporations El Cartel Records, Inc. and Los Cangris, Inc., as well as alleged millionaire transfers and claims of breach of contract.
The lawsuit includes claims for hundreds of millions of dollars, allegations of breach of prior agreements, and a request for the appointment of a receiver to oversee corporate operations. Although part of the litigation has already been closed in San Juan, proceedings are still pending in Carolina and in the federal court in San Juan.
Metro Puerto Rico was able to corroborate with Mireddys’ legal representation that the court received the notification of Torres Colberg and Colberg Birriel’s resignation. Likewise, the artist’s defense confirmed that Díaz Olivo remains on the team. It is expected that the new lawyers who will join Ayala’s legal representation will be notified soon.
