Santo Domingo.- The national director of the Miss Universe Dominican Republic franchise, Magali Febles, announced that she will take legal action against the former Minister of Women, Janet Camilo, for comments made about the candidates of the recent edition of the pageant.
In statements, Febles called the remarks disrespectful and offensive after Camilo stated that the contest brought together "a group of the ugliest girls in the country" and that none met the traditional standards of Dominican beauty.
Camilo also questioned the lack of diversity in the selection, assuring that in his tours around the country he finds young women "beautiful, without surgery and without makeup", with a variety of hair and skin tones, characteristics that, in his opinion, were not represented in this edition, not even by the winner.
