Santo Domingo.- The legal team of Santiago Matías confirmed this Friday that the criminal accusation filed by the communicator Manolo Ozuna was declared inadmissible, upon formally receiving an appeal against said judicial decision.
The defense of Santiago Matías, led by lawyer Manuel Alejandro Bordas Nina, explained that the notification of the appeal constitutes a procedural confirmation that the criminal action did not pass the admissibility test, presumably due to deficiencies in the precise formulation of the charges. You may be interested in: Journalists recognize Santiago Matías in Personalities of 2025
The case, which revolved around alleged accusations of defamation and insult, did not reach the merits phase, so the court did not evaluate evidence or issue a ruling on the alleged facts. From a legal standpoint, inadmissibility represents a procedural victory for Santiago Matías, while the appeal filed by the prosecuting party seeks to reverse said decision in a higher court. Santiago Matías' legal team reiterated that it will continue to defend respect for due process and the correct application of the rules governing private criminal action in the Dominican Republic.
