LONDON.– Mick Jagger praised the work of Paul McCartney during the recording sessions for The Rolling Stones‘ new album, titled Foreign Tongues, in which the former member of The Beatles participates as a bassist on the song “Covered In You”.
The Stones’ vocalist assured that working with McCartney was a simple and fluid process, even though it was a song with an energy closer to punk and a demanding bass line. According to Jagger, the musician managed to adapt quickly to the sound the band was looking for.
The collaboration is part of an artistic relationship that dates back several decades. McCartney and John Lennon wrote “I Wanna Be Your Man” in 1963, a track recorded by The Rolling Stones, while Jagger also participated in backing vocals for a Beatles song in the sixties.
Foreign Tongues will be The Rolling Stones’ 25th studio album and is scheduled for release on July 10, 2026. The record also includes contributions from other artists such as Robert Smith, Chad Smith, and Steve Winwood.
McCartney’s participation represents a new crossover between two of the most influential bands in rock history, in a project that seeks to keep The Rolling Stones’ sound relevant following the impact of Hackney Diamonds, released in 2023.
