Washington.- Robert Duvall, acclaimed actor of iconic films such as Apocalypse Now and The Godfather, died on Sunday night at the age of 95 in his home in Middleburg, Virginia, surrounded by his family, reported this Monday his widow, Luciana Duvall.
"Yesterday we said goodbye to my beloved husband, dear friend, and one of the best actors of our time. Bob passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love and comfort. For the world, he was an Oscar-winning actor, a director, and a storyteller. For me, he was everything", wrote Duvall's wife in an emotional statement on Facebook.

Seven-time Oscar nominee and winner for embodying a vagabond ex-country singer in Tender Mercies (Gracias y favores) from 1983, the performer had an extensive career first on stage, then on television and later in film, where he marked the history of the seventh art with his roles. "His passion for his craft was only comparable to his deep love for the characters, an exquisite meal, and his ability to win hearts. In each of his many roles, Bob gave his all for his characters and for the authentic human essence they represented," said his widow in her message, along with a photo of them both.
