3 dead and 3 injured in a shooting at public housing complex in San Juan

San Juan.- Three men were shot dead and three people were injured during a shooting recorded this Monday in the Nemesio Canales residential, a public housing complex in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

According to the Police report, a phone call to the 9-1-1 Emergency System alerted about people injured by gunshots in building 2 of the mentioned housing complex. Upon arrival at the scene, the agents found the lifeless bodies of two men, aged 19 and 35, who had gunshot wounds. In addition, three other men and one woman sustained gunshot wounds in different parts of their bodies. They were attended to at the scene by paramedics and transported to a hospital institution, where doctors certified the death of one of the men. At the moment, the health status of the three injured is unknown and the causes of this massacre, although it is probably related to drug trafficking.

With the death of one of the injured, the Police classified the shooting as a multiple murder, the fifth reported in Puerto Rico so far this year. According to the latest Police report, 261 murders have been recorded since the beginning of 2025 in Puerto Rico, an island of just over 3 million inhabitants. Three days ago, a young man died and five others were injured by gunfire in a shooting that occurred inside a nightclub in the municipality of Mayagüez, in western Puerto Rico.
