United States.- Richard Kenneth Djerf, 55, died this Friday after receiving a lethal injection after more than 30 years of his sentence for murdering four members of a Hispanic family in Phoenix.
"According to all reports, the process was carried out as planned and without incident," said John Barcello, deputy director of the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry. The man was accused of the murders of Albert Luna and Patricia Luna, as well as their children Rochelle Luna, 18 years old, and Damien Luna, 5 years old, at their home on September 14, 1993.You can also read: US breaks execution record with 37 this year
Djerf, who had been in prison for more than 29 years, decided not to seek clemency. His execution was the fourth in the country this week and the 39th of the year.With the execution of Djerf, there are now 107 prisoners on death row in Arizona.“Those four innocent victims deserve justice, and their loved ones deserve closure,” said Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes, whose office requested the execution.
