Moscow.- 68% of Russians believe that Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart, Donald Trump, reached an understanding during their recent summit in Alaska, according to a poll released this Wednesday.
"49% of respondents believe that the presidents of Russia and the United States rather came to a mutual understanding during the talks in Alaska and 19% believe that such an understanding was definitely achieved," notes the poll, cited by the portal Gazeta.ru.
At the same time, more than half of Russians (54%) indicated that relations between Russia and the United States will improve after the meeting between Putin and Trump. The negotiations between the two leaders took place at Elmendorf-Richardson military base, near the capital of Alaska, Anchorage, and lasted about four hours.At the same time, 28% of respondents believed that there was no understanding between the leaders of Russia and the United States at the Alaska summit, which took place on August 15.

It was the first meeting between the leaders of Russia and the United States since the return of Trump to the White House in November 2024 and since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. According to what the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, said this Tuesday, who accompanied the head of the Kremlin in Alaska, the meeting with Trump took place in a "good atmosphere" and led to a "greater understanding" of the causes of the conflict in Ukraine by the United States.
