The flight was operated by the American airline Eastern, from Phoenix, Arizona, and landed at the Simón Bolívar International Airport of Maiquetía, which serves Caracas. In its publication, the State portfolio reiterated its commitment to "guarantee a successful transition" for the reintegration of Venezuelans returning to the country. The migrants were received by the president of the Vuelta a la Patria program, Camilla Fabri, who is the wife of former minister and businessman Alex Saab, one of the people closest to President Nicolás Maduro. In his Telegram, Vuelta a la Patria indicated that this is flight 108 since Caracas and Washington signed a migration agreement at the beginning of last year, which was maintained even amid tensions over the US military deployment in the Caribbean Sea. According to government figures, reported on Wednesday by the Ministry of Communication and Information, more than 20,000 people have returned to the South American country under this program.
