The proclamation of the World Art Day, a celebration to promote the development, dissemination, and promotion of art, took place at the 40th meeting of the UNESCO General Conference in 2019.
Art nourishes creativity, innovation, and the cultural diversity of all the world's peoples, and plays an important role in the exchange of knowledge and in the promotion of interest and dialogue. These are qualities that art has always had and will have, if we continue to support environments where artists and artistic freedom are promoted and protected. In this way, by fostering the development of art, the means through which to achieve a free and peaceful world are also fostered.
Every year, on April 15th, the celebrations of World Art Day contribute to strengthening the links between artistic creations and society, to fostering greater awareness of the diversity of artistic expressions and to highlighting the contribution of artists to sustainable development. Likewise, this date is an opportunity to highlight art education in schools, as culture is the path towards inclusive and equitable education.
