Guayaquil (Ecuador).- One person died and two others were injured this Tuesday after the explosion of a vehicle outside a shopping center, located in the financial center of Guayaquil, the most populous city in Ecuador, as confirmed by the Fire Department.
The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. local time (11:30 p.m. GMT), and in videos that have gone viral on social media, it can be observed how a truck explodes seconds after it begins to catch fire.

Colonel Martín Cucalón, head of the Guayaquil Fire Department, indicated that the deceased person was a taxi driver and that the injured were sent to a nearby hospital, while the Police evacuated all the buildings in the area. This is the second vehicle to explode in Guayaquil in less than a month. On September 26th, another car was detonated outside the Regional Prison of Guayaquil, although no injuries or deaths were reported on that occasion.
