São Paulo.- The Brazilian ex-president Jair Bolsonaro, under house arrest and sentenced to 27 years in prison for attempted coup, suffered a new episode of hiccups and vomiting, reported this Monday one of his sons.
"I am with my family assessing the need to take my father back to the hospital. He is facing a bout of hiccups accompanied by four episodes of vomiting, which he himself described as the most intense so far," said Rio de Janeiro councilman Carlos Bolsonaro on his social media.

The son of the far-right leader indicated in his message that a doctor was on their way to the former head of state's house in Brasilia to "assess the situation" and asked his followers for prayers for his father. However, the medical team analyzed it and reported that the episode was controlled without having to transfer him to the hospital, according to the newspaper 'O Globo'. Bolsonaro received this Monday, with prior judicial authorization, the visit of the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas, one of his closest allies and who, upon leaving, already commented that the former president's state of health was delicate. The governor of São Paulo informed journalists that during his meeting Bolsonaro "had hiccups the whole time", a recurring phenomenon that Freitas linked to the stabbing the former president suffered during a rally in 2018, and the subsequent surgeries he had to undergo due to that attack. Bolsonaro, 70 years old, has been under house arrest since August 4th for failing to comply with a series of precautionary measures imposed by the Supreme Court. On September 11, the Supreme Court's First Chamber sentenced him to 27 years and 3 months in prison for "leading" a coup plot to "perpetuate himself in power", after losing the 2022 elections to the current ruler, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The retired Army captain's lawyers are awaiting the publication of the sentence to file an appeal before the same court. Only after the resolution of that appeal would the sentence be executed, which in principle will be under a closed regime. A few days after being convicted, Bolsonaro was urgently admitted to a hospital in Brasilia with a case of "persistent anemia and alteration of kidney function", which caused him a crisis of vomiting, dizziness and low blood pressure. He was discharged a day later. In addition, eight skin lesions were previously removed, two of which tested positive for a type of cancer in an "early stage" that does not currently require any specific treatment, but will require him to undergo periodic evaluations to monitor its development.
