Around 26 fire units are trying to extinguish an intense fire generated in a human settlement in the south of Lima, in the district of San Juan de Miraflores, and which has caused shocking images as it has affected a fireworks factory, although for the moment there is no report of injured people.
The general commander of the Peruvian National Police (PNP), Óscar Arriola, told the radio station RPP that between 80 and 100 homes have "been damaged" by the incident, which occurred in the human settlement Virgen del Buen Paso, located in the Pamplona Alta area.

The fire, classified with code 3, is consuming dozens of precarious material homes, as according to the National Meteorology and Hydrology Service of Peru (Senamhi) the fire originated in a fireworks factory. The National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI), through the National Emergency Operations Center (COEN), specified that the competent authorities are carrying out response actions to address the urban fire reported at 5:30 p.m. local time (7:30 p.m. Chilean time). "The General Corps of Volunteer Firefighters of Peru is working with 26 units to control and extinguish the fire. Likewise, the Regional Emergency Operations Center of the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima is in the area for response actions to the emergency," he indicated in his brief report without indicating whether there are any injured people so far. The Ombudsman's Office urged the Lima Water and Sewerage Service (Sedapal) and the neighboring municipalities to provide support with water tankers to extinguish the fire. "Likewise, the evacuation of the population exposed to the disaster areas is vital, as well as the speed in the assessment of damages to establish effective and timely interventions for the affected people. Medical assistance is urgently needed for the care of affected families," he added. "Immediate action for families affected by the fire in San Juan de Miraflores. The Government of Peru has initiated a multisectoral deployment to control the fire and urgently assist the affected families. They are not alone," said the interim president of Peru, José Jerí, on the social network X.
