Followers of the American conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who died this Wednesday after being hit by a shot in the neck, opened a fundraiser for his family that has already accumulated more than 4 million dollars in just two days. The campaign, organized on the Christian crowdfunding platform GiveSendGo, was launched by ALP Pouches, a nicotine pouch company that pledged to contribute the first million dollars to support his widow, Erika, and their two young children.

“The ALP team is heartbroken by the death of Charlie Kirk, a devoted husband, father, and friend. Love for God, family, and country defined his life,” reads the website. “Charlie leaves behind his wife, Erika, and their two young children. As they go through this unimaginable loss, we want to come together to provide security and stability to Charlie’s loved ones,” the company added. Erika Kirk warned in a video that the perpetrators of Charlie’s murder, if they wanted to erase the activist’s name from political life, will achieve the opposite effect. “The evildoers, responsible for the murder of my husband, have no idea what they have done […]. They have no idea what they have just unleashed in the whole country, and in the world,” she pointed out. Kirk was shot last Wednesday during a question and answer session with students at Utah Valley University. The attacker shot from the roof of a nearby building. The FBI stated that it was a “selective attack”. President Donald Trump described Kirk as a “martyr of truth and freedom” and blamed the rhetoric of the “radical left” for causing political violence. “It is time for all Americans and the media to face the fact that violence and murder are the tragic consequence of demonizing those with whom one disagrees, day after day, year after year, in the most hateful and despicable way possible,” he denounced.

This Friday, the arrest of the alleged killer was revealed. It is Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old from Utah.
