New York.- A 30-year-old man who worked as a teacher in a daycare center in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn was arrested and charged with multiple crimes related to alleged sexual abuse against minors, local authorities reported. The detainee was identified as Devante Brown, who was arrested on Tuesday morning by the Brooklyn Child Abuse Squad. The information was initially released by ABC7. According to the investigation, Brown allegedly committed repeated sexual abuse against four girls whose ages range from 5 to 9 years old, in incidents that allegedly occurred between April 2024 and August 2025. The incidents occurred both within the Bushwick area and outside the children's center where he worked. Authorities indicated that one of the most serious attacks would have taken place in July 2025 in Brooklyn Bridge Park. In addition, it was noted that the accused allegedly used threats to silence at least one of the victims, warning them that their favorite teacher would lose their job if they revealed what happened to an adult.Brooklyn District Attorney Eric González called the accusations extremely serious and assured that his office will conduct the judicial process with all the rigor of the law.
Charges Faced

The case became public after the girls recounted the events to their parents. One of the mothers stated that she decided to immediately remove her daughter from the center after detecting unusual behaviors and warning signs. For its part, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene reported that the childcare programs related to the case were closed last year and remain closed, reiterating that the protection of minors is a fundamental priority. A judge ordered that the defendant remain in custody while the judicial process advances, imposing a cash bail of $150,000, a secured bail of $300,000, or a partially guaranteed bail of $500,000. Authorities continue to investigate to determine if there are more possible victims.
