EU and NATO celebrate the historic peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan

United States.- The European Union and NATO applauded the signing of the historic peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, sealed this Friday at the White House under the auspices of US President Donald Trump, which ends almost 40 years of clashes in the South Caucasus. The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, described the pact as "an important step forward" towards lasting peace and called for the full implementation of the agreed measures. The EU also offered investments to boost regional connectivity and benefit populations divided by decades of conflict. NATO, through its spokesperson Allison Hart, defined it as "a significant breakthrough" and thanked Trump for his mediating role. The agreement contemplates the definitive cessation of hostilities, the opening of trade and travel, the re-establishment of diplomatic relations, and respect for mutual sovereignty. The signing, without Moscow's participation, comes after months of negotiations, including a meeting in Doha in July and the approval of the final text in March.
