Explosion due to alleged gas leak injures twelve people in Venezuela
Caracas, Venezuela.- Twelve people were injured in the Venezuelan state of Anzoátegui (east) after an explosion caused by a presumed gas leak, reported this Saturday, Luis José Marcano, who assured that there were no fatalities from this event.
In his Instagram account, Marcano also indicated that the explosion affected four homes in an urbanization in the city of Barcelona, the capital of Anzoátegui.
He also assured that the security agencies addressed the situation and investigations were initiated to determine the cause of the incident.
On July 12th, a total of 25 people were injured in Caracas, including two minors, following the explosion of a 43-kilogram gas cylinder, as reported at the time by the head of the city’s Fire Department, Pablo Palacios.
The official then detailed that the explosion affected, approximately, “a radius of expansion of 50 meters around” and caused damage to two vehicles that were in transit.
In a broadcast on the state-owned channel Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), the mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, explained that the explosion occurred after a gas cylinder was left, “for a certain time”, outside a commercial establishment.
Meléndez then said he had “the suspicion” that the explosion was not a “fortuitous” event, so he announced that the authorities would conduct the corresponding investigations.
